Twenty two years after the birth of the so-called Rainbow Nation in 1994, many South Africans – Afrikaners in particular – find themselves disillusioned and sceptical.

Time to Trek is a guide to move from being gatvol to embracing a new style of leadership that will not only draw Afrikaners out of a laager mentality, but will ensure a welcoming future for their children.

The call to the next Great Trek is a call into the real South Africa: a trek out of mental comfort zones into solidarity with the ‘other’.

The focus is on Afrikaners sweeping in front of their own door, not finding fault with the government or other cultures. Written by an Afrikaner for Afrikaners, Time to Trek calls for honest introspection whereby a new generation of ordinary Afrikaners can learn to fill the leadership vacuum and be the Mandelas for the other side.

“Hierdie boek het my weer laat besef hoe belangrik introspeksie is en watter belangrike rol ek as blanke man in die genesing van ons land speel. Elke persoon in die land móét hierdie boek lees.” – Bouwer Bosch, musikant en hoofsanger van die groep Straatligkinders

“I found it very surprising to see the new generation of Afrikaners doing some serious soul searching. I also appreciate that Time to Trek was written in English, allowing all of us to witness the journey and understand one another better.” – Thabo September, ex-Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United football defender
